MSTVT History

BACKGROUND OF MARANGU SCHOOL OF TOURISM AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING.(MSTVT).
MSTVT is owned by Beatrice Foundation, a nonprofit organization managed by Board of Trustees, which was registered by the United Republic of Tanzania in 2013. Beatrice Foundation worked with orphans and vulnerable children in Bagamoyo District in Cost Region. In 2016, the foundation felt the dire situation on unemployment of the youth in Tanzania and came up with an idea of establishing a Vocational training school which will assist the young people acquire different skills. It was anticipated such skills will enable the youth become self-employed entrepreneurs/ or get employment from different organizations and industries in Tanzania and other East African countries.

The expected results are alleviation of poverty in their families and creation of job opportunities for their colleagues who could work as apprentices.

The school started its operations officially in January 2018 after obtaining a preliminary registration from VETA (Vocational Education Training Authority), an educational agency of the Ministry of Education. So far 32 students graduated with a 2 year certificate from VETA in 2019, and 37 students in 2020.

Since its establishment, MSTVT have been conducting tourism courses like Tour guide, Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage services, Housekeeping and Laundry, and Front office operations. It has established also the department of Beauty Cosmetology and Hair therapy, and Driving. It is in the process of establishing Domestic and Industrial electric installation department, Automotive Mechanics, as well as Tailoring.

Apart from the vocational occupations MSTVT teaches languages, English Germany, Chinese and French.
